Dirty Electricity & Other Everyday Life Radiation Issues
A few years ago I learned about a new term (to me) in electric magnetic radiation. The term: Dirty Electricity. I learned that people were having all sorts of reactions to these fields that were beyond what we studied as Building Biologists. The speaker that presented this information was Dr. Magda Havas. I purchased a full house set of filters and after a few weeks, I wasn't sure if I was experiencing anything positive from them. I called the manufacturer and in conversation, the only thing I could quantify in my life was that I felt much clearer, in fact, was making major, positive changes due to the clarity I seemed to have found. He laughed, and told me that due to what he calls 'brain fog' from any type of lighting (I did not have the CFL's which is apparently the highest), that the FIRST thing many customers notice is: Clarity!
Since then, I help people measure and test to see if this could be beneficial to them. I've had clients who had headaches when walking into the room they were 'saving energy' with CFL's feel dramatically better and headaches disappear once we resolve the situation. This, along with the measurement and mitigation of Alternating Current Magnetic and Electric fields as well as impacts from Cell Phone radiation and WI-FI....has resulted in happier, healthier clients.
Following is a 4 part Canadian series that says more than I can write. If you are concerned, contact me - I can test for you!

Labor Day Musings
On this U.S. holiday of Labor Day, thoughts are coming to me of what my ancestors did to come to America to work. My maternal side of the family has a longer history in the US than my paternal side. The tracings that I have are that my Great Great Grandparents travelled across the country from New York to Wisconsin, in a covered wagon. Somewhere I have a photo of that - I'll have to post it when I unpack that box! They built a beautiful log home, and brought with them many fineries in that wagon. Yet they toiled hard to make their life work. Just thinking of the thrill of leaving and going out into the world with no true idea of where one would land is exciting to me. I think I inherited those genes!
My Great Grandfather, maternal side, was a builder. Hmmm...more inherited genes? My Mother has records of who owed him what during the Depression, and she reminds me that he was kind and not demanding of people for payments. Apparently my Great Grandmother was also a self starter, and she was involved in direct sales - imagine! This, too, must be in my blood with my love of Celadon Road, the organic, sustainable, fair trade products that I bring to the world.
My maternal Grandfather was an electrician early on in his career, then became a minister in midlife. It is interesting that my own Father was also an electrical engineer, and, that through Building (Bau) Biology, my focus for many years has been on the electro-magnetic radiation. Whew...this is getting eerie - can it possibly be just coincidence that all this background has merged into what I pursue today in my own work?
Paternally, my Grandparents were the first of their family to come to the U.S.. Sent here, without their family, by their parents, at a young age. I believe my Grandmother was barely a teenager when they married and she started having children (while working!). Her life was more challenging than my other set of Grandparents, having 8 children (losing 1 at a young age), working, cooking, and a husband who also worked. They both worked in factories, and toiled long and hard. I can hardly imagine what thoughts they had of work. I think what kept them going was family. Work was just a means to an end.
Today we live in a country where people still give up much to come to and live the American Dream. Many Americans are wondering just what happened to their own dream. I always believe that things happen for a reason. It seems to me that what has happened economically in our country created a realignment of values. The happiest people that I know are those that appreciate everything that comes to them in their lives. Including their jobs. Which brings me back to today. Today let's honor all who work, and want to work. Be thankful for what you have and help out your fellow American when you can. Happy Labor Day!

A Co-Operator's Garden
My Grandfather, Rev. Chauncey J. Pobanz, had thoughts that are still applicable in today's world. I found today's post in his notebook: "Poems & Sayings", this one with author unknown.
"A Co-Operator's Garden"
First, plant five rows of "p's"...
- Presence
- Promptness
- Preparation
- Perseverance
- Purity
Next, plant three rows of squash...
- Squash gossip
- Squash indifference
- Squash unjust criticism
Then plant five rows of lettuce...
- Let us be faithful to duty.
- Let us be unselfish and loyal.
- Let us be true to our obligations.
- Let us obey the rules and regulations.
- Let us love one another.
No garden is complete without turnips...
- Turn up for meetings.
- Turn up with a smile.
- Turn up with new ideas.
- Turn up with new members.
- Turn up with determinations to make everything count for something good and worthwhile.
What will you plant in your garden this week?

Healthy Homes for Children
Look upward: Set thine eyes upon the heights
And striving ever towards the distant goal,
Faint not, but have the faith supreme to know
A glorious destiny awaits thy soul.
Margaret Boswell
From the notes of Chauncey J. Pobanz, “Poems and Sayings”
There is a huge shift in the air. I have felt it in my own life. A move to a new home – that is always a major shift. But even more, I have been drawn to focus more on children – to bring information to their parents, their grandparents – information that can help them help their children have healthy, productive lives.
In the past 15 years I have seen a lot of people affected by the environment they were living in. The things that have stayed with me the most were those homes where the parents did not realize that where they placed their children’s bedrooms, and what they placed in and outside of it, had enormous potential for health impacts on their child. I’ve seen children with all sorts of illnesses, many which we concluded were a direct result of the environment.
It could have been elevated electric fields; it may have been the water quality. It possibly was due to the paint and carpeting in the child’s room – or perhaps it was the materials that their toys were made out of. It is difficult to pinpoint the cause after the result is in place – and this led me to realize that I need to do whatever I can to educate before the results go in the wrong direction.
So now I am on an exciting new journey. I’ve embarked upon a journey to find those families that want a healthy life for their family, especially their children. There are many directions that I can go in to reach people and this – this requires goal setting and mapping out the path.
This leads me back to the poem that started out this blog, at the top of the page. My Grandfather, Chauncey J. Pobanz, a man who became a Methodist minister in mid life, kept a journal that I am fortunate to have in my possession. This particular poem reminds me that all of my goals are being directed by my soul. And that, my friends, is glorious.

Grandfather Recollections
My Grandfather, Chauncey J. Pobanz, became a minister in mid life. I recently found his collection of "Poems & Sayings". He was ahead of his time. I think you'll like the quotes. Here's the 1st:
"There is not enough darkness in all the world to put out the light of one small candle.
This inscription was found on a small new gravestone after a devastating air raid on Britain in World War II.
In moments of discouragement, defeat or even despair, there are always certain things to cling to. Little things, usually: remembered laughter, the face of a sleeping child, a tree in the wind - in fact, any reminder of something deeply felt or dearly loved.
Noone is so poor as not to have many of these small candles. When they are lighted, darkness goes away - and a touch of wonder remains." (Arthur Gordon)

Forget Taking Notes - Float in a Hawaiian Hot Pond
Imagine attending a seminar while “floating” in Hawaiian hot ponds. Dr. Susan Gregg (http://www.susangregg.com/ ), author of The Toltec Way and Dance of Power will share her knowledge about Ancient Toltec wisdom in this very way at the Women’s Wellness Retreat in Hawaii July 19-28, 2010.!
Dr. Gregg believes that life is meant to be happy and free of struggle - that life is an opportunity to remember our divine nature and to have fun. The Hawaiians say there are many paths to the top of the mountain but the view from the top is the same for everyone. At the top of the mountain, no matter what path you take, you learn to love unconditionally and see the perfection in all of life. The Toltec tradition is one of the many paths that can help you reach the top so you can create a life that is a safe, joyous, loving and fun.
The Toltec Tradition is a way of life. It is a way of life that offers you the complete freedom to be your authentic self. The path of change is unique to each of us and Dr. Gregg has found that the Toltec tradition can assist each and every person in finding his or her own inner truth, leading to a new way of being. This way of being can allow you to experience a life free of limitations. It is a path that can lead you to personal freedom and a life based on love rather than fear.
This and MUCH more the week of July 19-28, 2010 on the Big Island of Hawaii. You can be part of this – learn how at http://www.phoenixadventure.com/workshops.html .

Carol Cannon's 9 Bau (Building) Biology Tips for a Healthy Home (& Planet!) (edit/delete)
Happy Earth Day! Today is the day that we celebrate Mother Earth. However, I hope that you celebrate and enjoy her every day! As a Bau (Building) Biologist, I look at how buildings affect humans, and, the planet. Following are some of my favorite tips to create a healthy living environment. Enjoy!
1. Unplug any unnecessary electrical items in your bedroom so you are not sleeping in a "sea" of electromagnetic fields (EMFs). Most importantly, keep items such as alarm clocks, tape players, radios at a "safe" distance from your head.
2. Use 100% natural linens for your bed, to avoid allergies. Avoid polyester!
3. Attach a grounded glare guard to an older computer to reduce EMFs and make working much easier on your health. Newer computers have built in lower EMFs.
4. Keep electric calculators, pencil sharpeners and other electronic equipment unplugged until you need to use them. These items emit high EMFs that can negatively impact your health.
5. If you have a sewing machine, keep it unplugged when not in use, as it emits high EMFs.
6. Look for potentially dangerous EMF sources that might be hidden in your bedroom. Avoid placing your bed against a wall that might have one of the following on the other side of the wall: main power source to the building, circuit breaker box, stove, refrigerator, pool pump.
7. When building a new home or building out your new business space, incorporate healthy concepts. Consider using non-toxic glue for carpeting; non-toxic paint for the walls; tile, cork, bamboo or natural carpeting for flooring, and natural fabrics for furniture. These will help prevent out-gassing and will make your environment a healthier and more productive place to be in.
8. Consider using full spectrum lighting in place of fluorescent tubes, particularly in your workspace. This creates the closest lighting to daylight, and relieves much stress in the body.
9. Test your drinking water regularly, even if you have a filter. Consider installing a reverse osmosis or distilled water unit for removal of most "TDS" (total dissolved solids).

Ho'oponopono
Ho'oponopono is an ancient Hawaiian healing method for achieving health, wealth, peace, and happiness. Basically, you return to your Self, in which there is nothing... but perfection. We are totally responsible for everything that happens in our lives. By working with the Divinity within, one can erase the past memories and replace them with "nothing."
Kathleen McGinley, organizer of the 9 day Women’s Wellness Retreat in Hawaii on July 19-28 has had training in Basic Self I-Dentity Ho'oponopono by Dr. Hew Len. Dr. Hew Len, who experienced much success with this method of healing, was trained by Morrnah Simeona, the creator of Ho'oponopono. Joe Vitale wrote the first book about Ho'oponopono called “Zero Limits”.
Enjoy the benefits of Kathleen’s knowledge of Ho'oponopono during your transformational week on the Big Island of Hawaii. Women's Wellness Week - Big Island Hawaii 7/19-28/2010

Creating a Home to Nest In: Health, Harmony & Success with Bau-Biologie®
Did you know that there are 3 main areas that affect a typical home occupant's health? The 3 areas include: 1) Air, 2) Water & 3) Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR). The materials used to build your home, improve your home, and create the furniture you use all have an impact - negative - on your air quality IF you are using chemical laden products. This is especially important for infants, but equally so for those who are more sensitive.
We all need to drink clean, pure water. No plastic containers, please! Most of us need to invest in, at minimum, drinking water and shower filtration. Finally, not only do huge power lines create harmful EMR, but your home can have the same or greater level of radiation. Where you sleep is of utmost importance to create a safe, low EMR and no toxin environment. Electrical appliances such as alarm clocks, dimmer switches, TV's, electric beds, computers and more are not recommended for your bedroom. Battery operated clocks are a healthier alternative.
Bau-Biologie®, the German science of understanding how your building affects your health, is key to understanding your home. A healthy home is a healthy nesting place! Learn more about how to analyze the health of your surroundings in Part 2 of 'Creating a Home to Nest In" podcast show, by clicking here: Feng Shui 4 Empowered Living . You can learn more about the field of Bau-biologie by checking out the International Institute for Bau-biologie & Ecology.

Feng Shui Business Success Tip
Feng Shui principals embody a myriad of ideas and processes that help people in all areas of life. One favorite of mine is to create an energetic plan to talk with your existing clients. The number 9 embodies the most 'yang' (movement!) energy of all the single digit numbers. Make it a habit to incorporate that number into the frequency of your calls - perhaps make 1 call a day over the next nine days to people you have not spoken to in at least 6 months. Or, try calling 9 people a day for the next 9 days. Make this even more powerful by setting up a 27 day plan - 1 or 9 people each day over that time period. To make this most effective - do NOT ask them for anything and do NOT try to sell them something. Your main focus is to simply check in, see how they are doing, and renew your contact. You will be amazed at what the Universe will provide as a result!

Earth Day is Every Day
Today I am hoping that it does not rain, so I can visit Crandon Park on Key Biscayne for the Earth Day Event. April is the month of celebrating Earth day - and this month you will find a 4 part series on Feng Shui in Your Garden on my weekly podcast Feng Shui 4 Empowered Living on http://www.energyofthespirit.com/

You can be part of a special 9 day vacation of successful community living in Paradise this summer. Creating a Home to Nest In: Health, Harmony & Success with Feng Shui & Bau-Biologie®
My life has been the training ground for my expertise as a Feng Shui and Bau-Biologie® Consultant. As a child, I grew up in an organic home, with organic food. As a young adult, I was interested not only in organic principals, but also became interested in the study of Hatha Yoga and meditation, in which I became certified. My career has shifted through the years, from selling real estate, to appraising it, to a 13 year position as V.P. of Chase Manhattan Bank's SE U.S Commercial Appraisal region, to ultimately blending with my early interests in real estate, and emerging like a butterfly, as a Feng Shui and Bau-Biologie® Environmental Consultant. My personal interests focus on world religions, peace, and unity amongst people, which I bring to my clients and listeners through the tools of Feng Shui and Bau Biologie®.
Home is where people feel safe - especially with all the unpredictable events going on in our world today. The more time people spend at home, the more important it is to create a healthy and harmonious environment. The ancient Chinese art of Feng Shui provides tools for empowered living and the German science of Bau-Biologie® makes sure your surroundings are healthy.
For those of you driving around or riding a train, you might enjoy some educational listening by downloading these MP3 Podcasts from my podcast show: Feng Shui 4 Empowered Living: Prescriptions for Health, Harmony & Success. I recently recorded a two part series, ‘Creating a Home to Nest In" , found at http://www.energyofthespirit.com/ . In the two segments, I explore how listeners can take a different look at their own environments to create a comfortable, healthy space.
Starting off the series, I provide listeners with a background of Feng Shui, the ancient art of placement for success. I discuss the 9 main areas of life found in the Ba-gua, and how to apply this basic template tool to your surroundings. Over the past 17 years, I have studied many schools of thought in Feng Shui, and in this show, I covered the ‘Western' method of finding the different areas of your life. Listen and you will learn how you can create an empowered living environment in your own home.
In Part 2, I share my expertise and experience as a Certified Bau-Biologie® Environmental Consultant since 1995 and discuss the 3 main areas that affect a typical home occupants' health. Air quality, Water and Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR) are the key areas that a Bau (Building) Biologist focuses on when creating a healthy home to nest in.
Each podcast is approximately 20 minutes long, found at http://www.energyofthespirit.com/ My Facebook Fan Page also provides ongoing thoughts on how you can create more harmony in your own environment. Please join now at www.facebook.com/CarolCannonGroup
Wishing you happy and long living!

A Good Day - Lowering Electro Magnetic Fields in a Home
Today was a good day. I was able to determine that the elevated AC Electric Fields in a lovely family's home will be able to be reduced substantially. So important, particularly in a family with young children. Elevated electric fields open the door to lowering the body's defenses to disease over time. It's a good day when that can be mitigated.
I noticed the elevation for the first time when my repeat client bought a new home. They inviited me to review their home for ideas to help them with the design process, from a Feng Shui point of view. It had been 6 months since their purchase, and they felt it was time for me to come back for a review. In that interim, they painted the home with non-toxic paint, updated light and fan fixtures, purchase some new furniture, and set about to 'living' in the home.
Their daughter was in the room that initially had the most concern for me. I did a preliminarly test and found elevated fields, suspecting that it was the exterior transformer near the front of the home. Today, I discovered that the AC Magnetic fields (the ones I sampled) were actually in good condition. However, the AC Electric fields, which we call 'body voltage' in the field of Bau-biology, were quite elevated. Through proper shielding, and shut off of a few circuit breakers at night time, they will lower the fields by 90% of the current levels.
The symptoms that the daughter was exhibiting (and their younger son) were that they had not slept through the night since moving in to the house, thus, they were all sleep deprived. When electric fields are elevated, they impact the pineal gland, which slows the production of melatonin - which is needed for deep, restful sleep. No sleep = irritable children = stressed family. We are all excited tonight as until their shielding cloths arrive, they are going to experiment with turning off a few specific circuit breakers each night before going to sleep. I expect that when I talk to them again in about 1 week, that I will find they will be a lot more rested.
This is a story that I will be following up on and my 'intuition' tells me that there will be some happy endings. If you have not ever heard about electromagnetic fields (or want to know more) check out http://buildingbiology.net/

9 Feng Shui Tips for Selling Your Home
Has it been sitting unnoticed on the market for months?
Do you wish you could get at least one offer?
Are you ready to try something out of the box?
Carol Cannon’s 9 Feng Shui Tips for Selling Your Home is YOURS when you click here and sign up for my Ezine newsletter. The tools of Feng Shui can help you plan your effective sales strategy. In today's markets, you are obviously trying to price your home at the best price that you believe the market can bear, yet even that can be elusive. You might even have an irresistible price - still something seems to hinder offers from coming in.
Similar to, and often done in conjunction with staging a home to sell, Feng Shui can give you that 'unseen' edge that many find words cannot fully describe! There is an invisible energy field around your home and it needs to be cleared and adjustments made to bring it into balance. This invisible energy is felt by your prospective buyers – and everything needs to be done to make them feel comfortable when they walk in – even before they enter your home!
You can make some simple adjustments that will seem almost miraculous. If you are motivated to sell, have a realistic price set, a good marketing plan and nothing is happening – the missing link is likely the power of placement known as Feng Shui!
For a complimentary list of Feng Shui tips to get you positively moving toward SOLD and other tips monthly in my Ezine, click here NOW! I guarantee you will soon be on the way to freeing yourself from your home!
With many blessings,
Carol Cannon

Creativity
I used to be an early riser, filled with creative ideas the moment I got out of bed. These days, the end of the day seems to be the opening to my creative juices. Living on the intracoastal in South Florida is a treat - and I enjoy rising slowly, watching the sun sneak up to the sky, with Hercules and Zeus (my 2 cats) and my cup of organic coffee. Mornings have turned into times for me to fill my soul, rather than pour it out into the world. Daily, I start out with sacred music, a great view, and slowly I begin to fill up with life.
That said, by the end of the afternoon, I find that the sun setting calls me outside for a walk that is the formal end to my productive work day. Scenes like the one at left leave me speechless some evenings - and it is a great way for me to empty my mind from all that went on during the day. Somehow, it seems that in this emptying, I am finding my most creative thoughts emerge at the same time. Once that starts flowing, it feels so good that when I return, I'll either start writing, or free drawing, or even creative cooking. This is a whole new side of me that seems to have turned inside out - a person that I am living with that seems to be recreating life for me!
What are you doing to allow your creative juices to express themselves? What have I done that has caused this shift? One important thing I have done is move a lot of furniture around in my condo at the start of the New Chinese Year. Old habits don't leave easily - moving furniture around is a habit that I've had since I was a little girl! Things just 'feel' differently in new locations - and when you couple that with Feng Shui and all that I know about it - it is a magical experience. These days when I am working at my desk, it is in a more open space where I am able to open the doors to the patio so Herc & Zeus can enjoy the fresh air - and we all get to enjoy the water view as we work. There is a lot of work ahead that requires me to be creative - and the basic, bottom line for me is feeling good in my surroundings. Good Feng Shui always comes through.

Little Known Secret to Online Marketing Success Revealed
Business owners know that online messaging channels like mobile, email, blogs and social media aren’t optional in 2010; they’re an essential part of the marketing mix. With new online marketing avenues constantly emerging and continuing to diversify, it’s all big companies can do to keep up.
However, small businesses, solopreneurs, coaches, consultants and authors are often overwhelmed about how to get these channels up and running, properly use them – and especially – synchronize them to attract new customers and online sales. High Altitude Marketing Academy, the new venture between digital marketing experts Karen Talavera and Mande White, aims to change that.
With over a decade each in online marketing, Karen Talavera and Mande White know the secrets to leveraging online conversation channels to increase visibility, deepen customer relationships, and grow revenue. As three quarters of small businesses increase their spending on email marketing in 2010 and nearly seven in 10 plan to put more dollars toward social media marketing (according to eMarketer) it’s not enough to know how to use individual channels separately. The key to true online success is weaving them together.
In their free teleclass, they will share the number one essential element that today’s online marketing must include for success in 2010 and beyond: making emotional connections with prospects and customers to keep them engaged. Sign up: http://bit.ly/5m4cO9
You may think that merely participating in a new online marketing channel is enough but just sending emails, making posts to Twitter and having a Facebook page doesn’t cut it. You’re not talking WITH your target market, you’re talking at them or worse yet, talking to yourselves. This isn’t a viable strategy because it lacks resonance.
Did you know that regardless of motivation, our human nature is to buy from our hearts, not our heads? When all is said and done and the pros and cons weighed, most buying decisions can be traced back to emotions. What that means for online marketing programs is more two-way conversations and real human connections.”
Join me as I listen in to Mande White and Karen Talavera for their free 75-minute teleclass, From Stalled to Soaring: The Five Essential Secrets to Emotionally Connecting with Your Target Audience, is offered on Thursday February 4 at 2:00 pm Eastern/11:00 am Pacific time.
